Natural hot spring whose water flows directly from its source【Oyu Onsen】
Oyu Onsen which has 800 years of history was crowded with many people as Morioka han’s health resort in Edo Era. It was also popular as a place of relaxation for citizens when the surrounding area prospered with mines in Meiji and Taisho eras.8
Its spring quality is sodium-chloride spring. At Hanamikan, we don’t add heat or water to the hot spring and keep it as it is. Hot water that flows from showers and faucets is natural as well.

Our inn represents an impression of trees, soil, and water. We exhibit unique works like furniture, curios, and pictures throughout the inn. They were made by local creators. A lampshade made of akebi vine shines on a replica of a Jomon earthenware created by a contemporary artisan. Space representing light and shadow made by indirect lightings will make you calmed.
Guest Rooms
All guest rooms are Japanese style rooms full of warmth of wood. We arrange your room depending on a number of people in your group. There are two types of rooms; one has a toilet and washstand and the other has no toilet.

Local Cuisine
Kiritanpo (Rice Stick) Hot Pot
Akita is one of the major rice-producing prefectures and so this cuisine was given birth as our specialty. To cook Kiritanpo, we wind freshly boiled rice around skewers made of Akita cedar and bake them. After that, we boil Kiritanpo with locally produced poultries, mushrooms picked in mountains, Welsh onions, burdock roots, Japanese parsleys, and other wild plants. Please enjoy the hot pot.

Hachimantaira Pork
Since pigs were born and raised in a same building until they were shipped, they didn’t touch with the outside world. Pig farms are desirable place to raise pigs, since causes of diseases are shut out. Hence, you don’t have to worry about the usage of medicals including antibiotic substances. Pig farmers change feed for pigs depending on their stages in growth. They feed plenty of vegetable protein like corns and don’t use feed of animal origin.
